A number of request for help with websites for faculty have been slowly coming into my office. I am currently working on implementing a “state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability” based on WordPress that will make it easy for faculty to create their own websites without the need to learn HTML, XHTML, or any other web coding languages. I hope to have it available for testing within the next week. If anyone is currently interested please send me an e-mail.

I have been asked about using copyrighted content on Blackboard. I am not a lawyer so I cannot counsel faculty in the proper use of materials in our course management system at UNCG. I have to refer you to University Counsel for answers to these questions. I do recommend that any recommendations you get from UC are to be in writing and if they come in the form of an e-mail, please print an archival copy. Please see this previous post for more information.

The School of Music ITC will continue to create any content you need for your course, but it is the responsibility of the faculty to use it within the confines of the law.

The case can be a little tricky to learn to fold, but it comes in very handy if you just want to burn a few files or audio clips to a CD for a student or faculty member.

It can also be extended with the use of plugins to provide additional editing features and effects. Being cross platform you can use the program on Windows, OS X, or Linux. I personally use it to make edits to files ripped from CDs for use in the classroom, because of it’s ease of use in creating fade-ins and fade-outs to make the example have a more professional sound. Any faculty that would like to make use of this software can contact me for individual training. There will be a “cheat-sheet” tutorial on this site in the near future.
